Community Service

"Service is the rent we pay for being. It is the very purpose of life and not something you do in your spare time."
- Marion Wright Edelman

Community Service is central to a Wooster School education. Understanding that we all share this earth, service to others allows students to expand their awareness of the needs of others, gain a greater respect for all life, and become an integral part of the collective responsibility to give back to society.

To that end, every Wooster student is expected to participate in meaningful volunteer work that provides support to others, to reflect on that work, and to communicate the lessons learned to others in the community. Wooster sponsors a variety of service opportunities designed to bring members of the K-12 community together.

Opportunities to volunteer are available through on-campus events such as the annual Turkey Drive, Middle School annual holiday toy drive for local youth organizations and the annual Red Cross Blood Drive, among others. In addition, the Center for Social Impact can help students locate volunteer opportunities in the community if they have a specific interest. All upper school students are responsible for communicating their hours, along with required details, to the Director of the Center for Social Impact.
