NFL Week 10

by: Gus Aspillaga

Each week I will be doing a recap of the most important things that happened over the past week. This will be done for each week of the NFL season. There will be a recap of 3-5 different games or significant things or trends that happened over the past week.

Eagles blow undefeated season

On Monday Night Football, the Eagles faced the Commanders, and the Commanders won 32-21. Whether it was because of the refs, Quez Watkins, or Brandon Graham, the Eagles blew a game that nobody would have expected. In the 3rd quarter, the Eagles went for a deep shot and Jalen Hurts threw it to Quez Watkins. He caught it and fell to the ground. Before anybody could down him, he got up and then proceeded to get strip tackled and fumbled the ball. The Commanders recovered and got the ball. The refs messed up because they missed a facemask call, which turned into a turnover. Dallas Goedert caught the ball on a short rough and when he was running one of the Commanders grabbed his facemask and threw him to the ground, which made him drop the ball and the Commanders took it for a touchdown. They missed the facemask call and since they did they weren't able to overturn it. They reviewed the play and since they were reviewing something else they couldn't review the facemask. They will most likely be change this so that a team can challenge different calls like this. After that, late in the game on 3rd down, the Commanders needed to convert. Taylor Heineke ran around the pocket and then took a knee to down the ball and after he kneeled, Brandon Graham tackled him and it was called unnecessary roughness. This was with less than 1:30 left in the game so it clinched it for them. The Commanders then proceeded to score another touchdown to win the game 32-21.

Thursday Night Football

On Thursday night, it was a generally boring game, as the Panthers beat the Falcons 25-15. There were really only 2 players who played well, D'Onta Foreman for the Panthers, and Marcus Mariota from the Falcons. Foreman was 5th in rushing yards with 130 and he took in a touchdown. Marcus Mariota had 186 throwing yards and 2 touchdowns.

Offensive player of the week (QB)

Patrick Mahomes

Mahomes in the league was 2nd in pass yards with a huge 4 touchdowns and a 129 passer rating which put him in 4th for the week, and all of the touchdowns the Chiefs scored were because of him throwing.

Runner Up:

Tua Tagovailoa

Tua did his thing in 6th for pass yards with 285 throwing 3 touchdown passes, and was 3rd for passer rating with a 135. His rating is higher than Mahomes due to the fact that Mahomes threw an INT.

Justin Fields

Fields has been going off recently. He has been able to carry his team in the pass game but along with the run game. He threw for 167 yards which put him in 27 he threw for 2 touchdowns but for rushing he was 2nd in yards with 147 he threw 2 touchdowns, and he had a long run for 67 yards which put him in 2nd for any run.

Offensive player of the week (Non-QB)

Justin Jefferson

Jefferson led the league in receiving yards by over 40 yards. He had 193 while 2nd had 150. He scored a touchdown and had a long catch of 46.

Runners up:

Saquan Barkley

Barkley had an insane 35 rushes. He led the league in yards with 152 and he also took in a touchdown.
