Wooster School senior Kat Mancinone, of Roxbury, CT, has signed her National Letter of Intent to attend Southern Connecticut State University and compete on the women's soccer team.

"It is always a pleasure and exciting to work with a student-athlete that is as talented and driven like Kat. I have had the pleasure to work with Kat at Wooster for the past two years. She transferred into Wooster for her junior year and made an immediate impact on the field and in our community. She is a gifted athlete, she possesses both power and pace, and was one of the most prolific goal scorers in Wooster girls soccer history," remarked Coach Chris Pereira. "Kat scored a total of 29 goals her junior year and helped the team reach the finals of the HVAL tournament as well as a trip to the prestigious New England Tournament. What impresses me most about Kat is how caring and selfless she is. She has been the captain of the soccer team for the past two years and makes a genuine and constant effort to help her teammates both on and off the field. She has embraced our school community and has been a great role model for our younger student-athletes. I am very proud of her accomplishments and contributions to Wooster, and very excited to wish her the best of luck in the future at Southern Connecticut State University where she plans to pursue nursing and will play with the SCSU women's soccer team," he added.

"Thank you to my mom and dad for being my biggest fans and sticking with me through this whole process, going to all my games, and supporting me in every way they could. Also thank you to my coaches that I had, my dream to play competitive college soccer wouldn't be possible without Coach Nicki and Coach Pereira," noted Mancinone. "I've been playing soccer since I was 4 years old and it's been my dream to play college soccer especially at the school my dad went to. I'm upset by the way senior year soccer season played out, but I learn so much from soccer: how to work with others, how to work hard, dig deep, and push yourself and others. Soccer season this year taught me how to have more perspective, and to appreciate the time we have together. And that's the greatest thing I could ask for," she added.

Wooster School athletic programs provide students with a competitive, team-based experience designed to teach the skills and dispositions required in team membership, while also developing the individual athlete's skills in a way that maximizes growth and performance.
